My partner is a UX (user-experience) designer and we often look at screens and analyse their UI – user interface. We have quite geeky/design-based/customer-focused conversations over dinner.
My marketing background – digging deeper into digital marketing – provides the human dimension to technology, bridging a very important gap.
I recently read a fantastic article that examined the different online experiences between Pizza Hut and Dominos pizza websites.
When examining their websites and mobile apps, it was clear how such seemingly simple differences in design (UI - the interface) could create a massively different user experience (UX).
Consider the number of people who search on Google for each brand:
- Dominos (640,500 searches per month)
- Pizza Hut (334,100 searches per month)
I’d strongly urge you to read this article as it provides some great visuals to demonstrate how important UI/UX is. For those that don’t understand these terms yet, this article brings these ‘tech’ concepts to life. More than that, you can apply this thinking to your own websites.
